10 Dec Celebrate Christmas at the Gran Hotel Inglés
The city of Madrid is always a great place to spend Christmas.
This Christmas, the Gran Hotel Inglés has joined forces with Fernando Arellano, a chef with two Michelin stars to his name, to create a unique dining experience for you to enjoy with your loved ones this Christmas.
Fernando Arellano has honed his culinary skills in some of Europe’s finest restaurants, including Patrick Guilbaud (Dublin), Le Gavroche (London), Don Alfonso 1890 (Naples), Maison Pic (Valence) and Can Fabes (Barcelona). In September 2005, he opened his own restaurant in Madrid, Zaranda, which was described as Madrid’s ‘breakthrough’ restaurant by the newspaper El Mundo and Food and Wine Magazine. He then went on to be awarded his first Michelin star, two Repsol Suns, the “Best Young Chef” award in 2008, and the award for “Conceptual and Technical Innovation of the Year 2009”. In 2015, he was awarded his second Michelin star.
Enjoy your Christmas Eve dinner designed by a Michelin starred chef
The chef Fernando Arellano has chosen the finest ingredients to create each of the starters, main courses and desserts included on the Christmas Eve dinner menu at our hotel. To ensure an evening full of flavour, the dishes served will feature local products such as ham, oysters, seasonal mushrooms and poularde.
The aperitif sharing platters include: Iberian-fed ham, fresh oysters, and homemade duck liver pate, accompanied by a glass of Tio Pepe fino sherry, from the D.O. Jerez – Xerez – Sherry designation of origin.
The main dishes include marbled partridge, cabbage, mushrooms and foie gras with festive gravy, poularde and Iberian pork cheek ravioli with a DO Navarra wine from the Arbuyen winery. Or a second option is hake confit, parmentier of algae and sabayon of sea urchin, roast loin of venison, medium rare, in a pithivier pie with chestnuts and quince, served with a D.O. Vino de Pago wine from the Pago Florentino winery.
And to leave a wonderfully sweet taste in the mouth, there is a toffee ingot with caramelised pineapple and coconut semifreddo, served with Lauren Perrier Brut Champagne.
Children’s menu worthy of the most important members of the household.
The youngest members of the family will also enjoy a tailor-made menu. Familiar flavours given a twist by the great Chef Fernando Arellano. They’ll be ready to hit the hay after trying the Gran Hotel Inglés Super Sundae with ice cream, cookie cream, brownie and kitkat, served with even more chocolates and special Christmas sweets on the side. See the full children’s menu here. They won’t be able to resist.
Bid farewell to 2019 with dinner at the Gran Hotel Inglés
To see out the old year in the best possible style, we have teamed up once again with chef Fernando Arellano to offer three different types of menus. The difference between each menu lies in the number of dishes, key ingredients and the type of wines that accompany them. It also features a children’s menu if you are planning to celebrate New Year’s Eve with the whole family.
Oysters, caviar, red prawns, lemon fish with sardine teriyaki, glazed veal and warm leek and potato salad, among other dishes. Paired with the finest selection of wines. The highest-priced menu will only be paired with Dom Perignon Vintage. And of course not forgetting our four seasons dessert made with Mallorcan almond and served with Lauren Perrier Rosé champagne.
